The scarf has been cut across the grain of the cloth, and so measures the full width of the cloth. The edges are bound with ecru cotton bias binding made in England. Bias binding is so called because it is cut in long strips on the bias (diagonal) of a piece of material. Bias-cut fabric stretches much more easily than straight-cut, so bias binding can be sewn on around a curve, without having to be pleated or folded. This scarf is cut in a smooth curve around the ends, to allow the entire piece to be bound in one continuous run of binding.
The scarf is finished with a Tender red blanket elephant label.
It is also available cut from Welsh-woven navy, brown, and natural ecru woollen flannels.
