The 'loops' buckle is the fourth buckle in Tender's collection, and is a take on the classic D ring buckle. Normally, D rings are the same size as each other, and are either sewn onto the belt together (in which case the buckle is secure but rather thick where the buckles are attached), or are sewn on separately, spaced apart (in which case the buckle lies flat, but the belt can slip quite easily). In this version, there are two rectangular loops of different heights, spaced apart and fixed on separately. This means that the open ends sit on top of each other (as with a belt where the rings are sewn on together), but the closed ends are spaced to keep the belt flat (as with a belt where the rings are sewn on separately).
This belt has been cut from natural cotton webbing and kick-press rivetted together with copper 'Universal' rivets. The belt has been washed, which shrinks the webbing to size, and fluffs up the raw ends of cotton, which will stop them ravelling with wear.
Tender's belts are also available cut from black stained oak bark leather, with bronze 'Wire', 'Hook', and 'S' buckles. The same natural cotton webbing is used to make the straps for Jumbo Tote bags, in ecru twill and mattress ticking.
