Twill fabric is woven in such a way that it has a raised diagonal stripe along it. Most cotton twills are woven 'right handed', which means that looking along the fabric's length, the diagonal lines run from top-right to bottom-left. Left hand twills show a diagonal line from top-left to bottom-right. In a right hand twill, the weaving runs with the twist of the fabric's yarn, making the yarn twist tighter, and producing a springier, crisper, fabric. Levi's denim is traditionally a right hand twill. In a left hand twill, however, the weaving runs in the opposite direction to the twist of the yarn, causing it to untwist. This leads to a drapier, more fluid fabric. Lee jeans are traditionally woven left handed.
This cap is cut with a traditional band around the bottom of the crown, and has a short, stiff, peaked brim, adapted from a British Railway conductor's hat. The lining is made from a contrasting ecru cotton calico.
The colour is copied from Tender's hand-thrown natural red clay flowerpot. Also made from English-woven left hand twill cotton is a Jumbo Tote Bag
